We are holding auditions for our performance company 4! today at 7:00. If interested come to The Dance Source at 6:45 to fill out the application, auditions will start at 7:00 and last 30-45 min. You will learn a ballet and jazz combo.

a few reminders

Just a few reminders

There is dance on Monday Nov. 21 and Tuesday Nov. 22. The studio is closed on Nov. 23-25th.

We have some super cute shirts for sale. If you want to order one the order form is due Dec. 1st and the forms are located at the front desk, there are also sizes to try on they are $14.00 for child and $15.00 for adults.
Come in and see them they are super cute.

With the cold weather please pick up your dancers as soon as their class is over, the studio stays open for 15-20 min after our last class. If there are dancers still waiting they could be charged a babysitting fee or may have to wait outside. Thanks you for your corporation with picking your dancers up on time.

Spring concert fees are now due.

Competition Hair

Competition Hair
You will need to Part your hair on the Left then take about 2-3 inches of hair and do a tight french twist. The french twist will twist from the part to the right and around the head just above the ear and back to the just below the left ear. You will then put it into a bun just at the base of the neck on the left side.
You will need to put a hair net in the bun. Fix your hair when it is wet it will make it easier to have it Nice and Slick.
I will post pictures later but use a lot of hair spray and gel.

NYCDA Here we come

We are so excited to compete this weekend. If you want to come down and watch our girls compete they are competing on Saturday Oct. 22 at the Salt Palace at 4:30, its free and you get to watch some of the most amazing dancers in Utah. Come and support our dancers.
Performance company members you will need to be to the Salt Palace at 1:30 on Friday the 21st.
We are having a Pre Performance Company competition party on Thursday the 20th from 7:30-8:15, come have fun and learn how to fix your hair for the competition.

We are going to order our Dance Source warm ups!

If you are interested in placing and order you can pick up a warm up order form from the front desk, your dancers will also come home with an order form.
The cost of the warm is $77.00 this include both top and bottoms with their name on the front.
The order form by October 3rd to the front desk.

NYCDA

We are excited to be going to NYCDA in Salt Lake. This is a great opportunity for the dancers to work with some of the very best choreographers in the dance industry. It is held Oct. 21-22, Anyone is welcome to attend. We will be competing some of our performing company dances at the competition. Come and support our performing company members and enjoy and amazing weekend of dance.

Congratulations, we are super excited to work with you this year. You all worked really hard at audition and looked great.

You will need to attend the summer registration to register for your performance and ballet classes, it will be held May 25 from 5:00-7:00 pm and May 28 from 10:00-12:00. There is also a mandatory parents meeting on June 7th at 5:30 p.m. in studio 2. At least one parent needs to attend. We will be going over information for being a member of our performance company.

If you want to order a Dance Source DVD you will need to place your order by May 18th. To order a DVD contact Stephanie Merrill at 563-9630, if not there leave a voice message on the machine with your name, phone # and number of DVD's. Do not leave messages with kids who might answer the phone, they don't get to her. DVD's are $8.00 and can be pick up during Summer Registration on May 28 from 10:00-12:00.

A few last minute reminders

A few last minute reminders May 2, 2011

We are at the end of our year. I could not be more excited to see all of your hard work in a few weeks. Each one of you has worked so hard and I can’t wait to see you perform at the Spring Concert.

The Spring Concert is May 14th the show starts at 7:00. Don’t forget your rehearsal and call times (check thedancesource.blogspot.com for class times). You will enter the theater from stage door 3 on the south side of the Ellen Eccles Theater. All fees need to be paid to receive any additional costumes. In order to insure proper credit please do not pay me during rehearsal.

This year your seats for the Spring Concert are reserved seating. Tickets are sold at the Ellen Eccles Box office. Each Dancer should have received their voucher which was good for 2 complementary tickets, that vouchers needs to be redeemed at the box office for your actual ticket. Please remind family and friends who are coming to watch to purchase their tickets at the Ellen Eccles Box Office.

Remember there are no children under 2, no infants, and no babes in arms allowed in the theater during the show, please make prior arrangements for them.

We are having a full dress rehearsal and finale practice on Thursday May 12th, in the North Logan Studio 2300 N. Main from 5:00 until 8:00. You will need to arrive at the studio at 4:30 to get into your 1st costume. You will need to bring all of your costumes and dance shoes. Also those who are helping back stage and with classes we will need you there so you can see what costume and shoes they are to be in. We ask that no parents stay because there will not be room. You will still need to attend your rehearsal and finale practices on May 13th and 14th.

Parking for the North Logan Studio- do not park along the gray building or on the pavement around the gray building. There is parking along the north and east side of the tan building. No parking in front of any doors or garage doors. The studio’s entrance is on the north side of the tan building.

Parking at the Ellen Eccles Theatre – beware that there are boot lots around the Ellen Eccle Theatre and they boot your car if parked there. You can park in Logan High Schools parking lot (enter on 100 S) this is not a boot lot.

All combo and preschool classes will need to have elastic sewn or glued in place of the ribbon in their tap shoes, they will be given a bow next week to glue to that elastic.

We are holding auditions for our performing classes for the 2011-2012 seasons. Refer to your note about the requirements for the performing company classes. They audition will be May 19th. We look forward to having you come be a part of our Performing Company. We will continue to have recreation classes for those who want to dance but not make as big of a commitment. In our recreational class we have our preschool, combo, hip hop and jazz classes that will just perform at the spring concert, as well as classes that will compete at 1or 2 local competitions. The performing classes and the recreation class will be like to our 2010-2011 year.

ELLEN ECCLES THEATRE

BACKSTAGE POLICIES AND GUIDELINES

  1. Food and drink in Ellen Eccles Theatre and Backstage areas are discouraged. If length of rehearsals necessitate food and drink please confine their use to annex area only. There will be absolutely no food or drink allowed anywhere else in the facility. Each individual is expected to clean up after eating. No drinks are to be left unattended at any time.
  2. Do not bring valuables to the facility. The management is not responsible for their safety. All unidentified items left at the theatre will be donated to a local charity that following Monday.
  3. Keep your dressing room(s) neat and clean. Our custodial staff will do the deep cleaning, but they do not have the time to pick up after performers and staff.
  4. Do not enter any area of the facility your company has not rented. (Bullen Center, etc)
  5. Theatre policy is no parents or unauthorized persons are allowed backstage.
  6. No one is to be in the auditorium unless directed by the CVCA for a specific purpose. Placing feet on seats and /or furniture is prohibited. If your child is not rehearsing you will need to wait quietly in the annex, not in the theatre.
  7. At the conclusion of the show you can pick your child up in the annex by accessing a stage door (this will be shown during rehearsal). Your childs items will all be brought up with your child to the annex for pick-up after the show. You will not be allowed down into the dressing rooms.
  8. Dancers overall check list- Send a dance bag that all dance shoes and tights can fit into, and a garment bag for the costumes (clip hair pieces to your costume, or hanger) Make sure all items including bags are labeled with dancers name (do not put names on the outside of shoes or costumes)
  9. Arrive promptly. Please make sure you are in your seat before the performance begins. Traffic and parking can be challenging, so leave home in plenty of time. Those who arrive after curtain time, 7:00; will be seated at the first appropriate break or intermission. Door will not be opened during a dance. Theater will be cleared of all unauthorized person at 3:30 (Only dancers and instructors allowed at this time). House will open at 6:30. We accept no responsibility for inconvenience to latecomers or people leaving their seats. Be respectful of the Theatre staff. The management reserves the right to request any disruptive patron to leave to theatre.

April 30th competition

Our competition this Saturday is at Logan Rec Center. All dancers need to come with their hair and make-up done and meet in the dressing room. Dancers are free to get in, all other spectators are $5.00.
Hip Hop needs to be there at 7:15
Lapetites needs to be there at 7:30 Then back at 3:00
All Performing companies members need to be there at 10:00

The competition starts at 8:00 a.m. and awards start at 5:45p.m. All Dancers need to be back to the rec center at 5:30p.m. for awards. Performance company members will need to be there form 10:00 on to support all company members and support Dance Source for the awards.

7:00 Spring Concert Start time, All Dancers

If you are in any of the dances scheduled for the Tech Rehearsal from 3:30-6:15 on Saturday, you need to be to the entire practice, we do not have a specific time slot for each dance so it is important you are there the whole time sitting in the theatre seats. It is important that each dancer is on time for their scheduled rehearsal time, allow yourself an extra 15 minutes before your rehearsal to warm up and stretch.

The theatre has strict rules and it is very important for us to follow them. No food, candy, or drinks allowed in the house, on stage or in the dressing rooms, you may eat in the annex or outside. Do not run through the theatre or the dressing rooms, if you are not rehearsing you should either be sitting in the theatre seats or the annex, do not go in the dressing rooms or in the lobby during rehearsal. The theatre is a beautiful place and we are lucky to be able to hold our spring concert there, let’s show respect and not play around.

This year each patron will need a ticket to get in as the seats are reserved seating. They can be purchased in the Ellen Eccles Box Office (your voucher is not your tickets to the show). The doors will open at 6:30 and the show will begin at 7:00. As you are waiting, you need to be respectful of the theatre and the staff. You will each have a ticket that has your seat on it, the ushers will help you locate your seat. No Children under 2, No infants, No babes in arms are admitted.

We are giving the dancer a professional theatre experience, please be respectful and applaud for all dancers.

You all look so good, we can’t wait to put everything together on the stage. You look Amazing! Thanks for your hard work this year; it really has been a great year. We have all loved working with you. Good Luck at the recital!

The teachers will let each class know what costume to wear for pictures. All Preschool, Combo, Ballet and Pointe classes will need to wear a pair of light pink footed tights (they will be used in the revue). The girls are free to wear their hair however they want.

All fees need to be paid and invoice balance at $0.00, before your costume will be handed out.

Due to spring break we will be accepting payment till April 15th without a late fee. May’s lesson fees are 1/2 the regular monthly fee.

Remember to get your seat reserved for the Spring Concert. (No children under 2, No infants, No babes in arms admitted) The Spring Concert is May 14th , with rehearsal on May 13th for some dancers.

Hair helps

Here are some pictures of how the hair should look for our competitions and performances.
You will part you hair on the right and do a French Twist in the front section of hair. (French twist; you will take to pieces and twist them, with each twist pick up more hair to add into it, just like a french braid) to the left side of head.
You will twist it down behind your left ear.
Then you will take the hair from the right side and do a French Braid starting on the right side and going to the left side. This will be going at an angel
You will meet the French Braid and French Twist on the left side, elastic the two sections together.
Then make a Bun. The bun will need to be in a hair net the same color as your hair. You can find them into Sally's.
Make sure that the hair is tight, gelled and hair sprayed so there are no fly aways.

Warm ups

This year we are ordering new warm-ups. We will be keeping the same warm-ups for many years and are excited about this new style. They will be navy blue and white with each dancers name on the front and the studio name on the back. Some sample sizes will be available at the studio January 12,2011 from 4:30-6:30 to try on.

They will include both jacket and bottoms for $70.00 All orders are due January 13th, if you need an order form they are located at on the bullet board in the red folder.
