Ballet Blast

Ballet Blast classes are so fun and energetic, it is a cardio ballet workout for anyone.  You do not need to be a dancer to try it.  Come and try it out your first class is always free.  If you have them bring a mat and small 2-3 pound hand weights.  Classes are Mon and Wed from 7:00-8:00.

Costume Payments

Costume payments are Due on October 8th.  Preschool and Combo classes are $70.00.  Jazz, Hip Hop and Tap are $70.00 Deposits.

Epic and NYCDA


                                                                                                                                              
We are starting into our convention season.  Anyone is welcome to join us for one or both of the conventions.
Epic Convention

We have a great opportunity to go to Epic Dance Convention.  The convention will be help October 5 & 6 at the Beautiful Zermatt Resort in Midway Utah.

This convention has a one day option or a two day option. The one day option is a program which is for recreational dancers to get involved.  The mission of their program is to provide a positive experience for dancers who are looking to grow their dance experience.  The Mini ages 5-7 is Friday only (includes dinner on Friday, Epic gift & parent performance/scholarship award the last 10 minutes of each class. Launch ages 8-12 (includes lunch on Saturday, Epic gift and Epic showcase)  The cost for the one day mini program and Launch program is $100.00.
If you are in Lapetities and Kaleidoscope you will be required to attend the 2 day workshop (includes dinner on Friday, lunch on Saturday, Epic Gift and Epic showcase) The cost for the 2 day workshop is $200.00.  

You will be able to stay at the beautiful Zermatt resort for $110.00 plus tax for the night of October 5th

You will need to turn your money in by September 20th for the convention and hotel so we can get your rooms reserved.  Please let me know who you will be going with.  If I have enough interested then we will assign the girls rooms to share and bring the cost down, let me know if you are interested in sharing rooms. I need to know by September 17 if you will be staying at the Zermatt so we can get the rooms reserved.

 NYCDA will be held November 2-3 at the Salt Palace in Salt Lake City.

Observers can register the day of the convention but space is limited and has been known to sell out the cost is $45 if paid that day.  NYCDA reserves the right to limit workshop observers within each ballroom, subject to attendance and space limitations.

This year Impact, Propel, Ricks Hip Hop and Autumns hip hop will each be competing the dance that they have been practice this summer.  Impact and Propel will compete 2 dances.

Entry fees for the competition are $38.00 per dance per dancer. 

There is no admission to the competition.  Anyone and everyone is welcome to come and support the girls for free.
Each girls will need to reserve their own hotel room.  We will be staying in the Hyatt Place Salt Lake City Downtown.  We would love to have you reserve your room here so the girls can be in the same hotel and get to know each other better.
The money for the convention and competition is due on September 22, 2011.

Kaleidoscope girls who are in the hip hop dances will need to attend NYCDA, Epic will be optional for you.

2012-2013 Registration

Our 2012-2013 Dance Seasons registration will be held on Wednesday August 15 from 3:00-7:00 and Friday August 17 from 3:00-6:00.  Registration will be held at The Dance Source located at 2300 North Main, North Logan Utah.  We are on the North side of the building.
Come sign up to be a part of The Dance Source.  We accept kids of all ages from 3yrs old and up, boys are welcome to join!

We will be holding a mandatory Parent Meeting on June 7th at 6:00 p.m.  We will be going over information for being a member of our performance company and signing the company contract.  The dancer and one parent will need to be in attendance.   You will not need to attend the summer registration, you will register at the meeting.

Company auditions are May 24th at The Dance Source in North Logan.  7-9 yrs registration begins at 4:00, auditions will go from 4:30-6:00.  10-17 yrs registration begins at 5:00 auditions will go from 5:30-7:30.  Come prepaird to learn a Ballet and Jazz combination.

Items left from dress rehearsal

I have a few thing left from the dress rehearsal tonight.  I have a black and pink combo 1 a costume, a purple hair flower, a pink dance bag, some ballet slippers, tap shoes and a few pink and red tap shoe puffs.  I will bring them tomorrow if you want to stop by and get them at the Ellen Eccles theater from 2:00-9:00.

You all looked amazing tonight.  Thank you for working so hard.  The show will be amazing.

Clarification on Combo 1 a and Combo 1 b rehearsal time on Saturday.  Combo 1 A is from 10:00-12:00  Combo 1 B is 12:00-1:00

Quick reminder about Thursday's practice

We are doing a Dress rehearsal for all Dancers on May 10 at the Studio.  We will be running through the entire show from top to bottom.  Please send your dancer with all of her costumes and dance shoes.  Please label your dance costumes and shoes with your dancers name.  

Dancers will need to be their at 4:30 to get into their fist costume.  We will Start running at 5:00 and will be done by 8:00.

We are asking that there be no parents there as there will not be room for extra bodies.  We have amazing helpers there to take care of you dancers and keep them entertained.  

Please feed your dancers before they get there and do not send them with food or drinks.  We will provide them with some snacks and we have the drinking fountain for water.

If you are in any of the dances scheduled for the Tech Rehearsal from 3:30-6:15 on Saturday, you need to be to the entire practice, we do not have a specific time slot for each dance so it is important you are there the whole time sitting in the theatre seats.  It is important that each dancer is on time for their scheduled rehearsal time, allow yourself an extra 15 minutes before your rehearsal to warm up and stretch.
 The theatre has strict rules and it is very important for us to follow them.  No food, candy, or drinks allowed in the house, on stage or in the dressing rooms, you may eat in the annex or outside.  Do not run through the theatre or the dressing rooms, if you are not rehearsing you should either be sitting in the theatre seats or the annex, do not go in the dressing rooms or in the lobby during rehearsal.  The theatre is a beautiful place and we are lucky to be able to hold our spring concert there, let’s show respect and not play around.
                Each patron will need a ticket to get in as the seats are reserved seating.  They can be purchased in the Ellen Eccles Box Office (your voucher is not your tickets to the show).  The doors will open at 6:30 and the show will begin at 7:00.  As you are waiting, you need to be respectful of the theatre and the staff.  You will each have a ticket that has your seat on it, the ushers will help you locate your seat. No Children under 2, No infants and No babes in arms are allowed.
                We are giving the dancer a professional theatre experience, please be respectful and applaud for all dancers. 
                You all look so good, we can’t wait to put everything together on the stage.  You look Amazing! Thanks for your hard work this year; it really has been a great year.  We have all loved working with you.  Good Luck at the recital!

We can not believe that this year is almost over.  We have loved working with each of you, and have really enjoyed watching you grow.  The next two weeks we will be having a few extra rehearsals.  On Saturday May 5 from 9:00 -10:30 a.m. there will be a full dress rehearsal (in full costume) for the ballet dance. May 9th from 4:00 - 5:15 we will have a rehearsal for the ballet dance (not in costume), 5:15-7:00 we will be going over all performance company dances. Thursday May 10 we will have a full dress rehearsal to run the entire show.

Thank you for letting us work with you.  We have truly loved getting to know each of you and watching you dance.  Thank you for being a part of our company.

You will need to come ON TIME with your hair and make-up done.  Do not be late and stay in the dressing room till you are excused.   Check the call time for each of the classes you are in.

This competition is located at Juan Diego High School 300 E 11800 S Draper UT.  Enter from 12300 S use  south and west parking lots.  Enter on south side of school with an additional entrance on the west side.

General information about this competition.
                We are competing in the Auditorium.  This is super important as there is a gym competition going on at the same time.  So tell anyone who is coming that we are in the AUDITORIUM.
                Admission fee $7.00, $5.00 (5-18), $4.00 Sr., 5 and under free.
                No glitter of any kind spray included.  Just don’t bring any glitter.  You will be charged the cleaning fee if glitter is in the dressing room.
                You will get a DVD of your dances, they will come at a later date.  I will keep you posted on the blog when they are available.
                The doors open at 7:00 a.m.
                Your costume gets you in.  There are no tickets
                You will need to clean up your dressing room.  If it is not clean the competition charges a $75.00 cleaning fee that will be divided between all Dancers who are competing.

The awards for Performance 4, 3 and Pop Drop and Roll are at 3:15.  Awards for Performance 2, 1, Lapetites, Monday Hip Hop and Monday Jazz are at 8:55.  You will need to attend the appropriate award time for your classes.

All dancers need to meet in the dressing room until your teacher has accounted for everyone and has excused you to go watch.

All Performing company members will need to cheer and support each of the performance teams.

Everyone will be done dancing by 3:30, you will be excused to leave after that, you will then need to return for the awards at 9:00.

Along with the balance for the costume it will need to shoe size of your dancer. They come in adult sizes 2 to 10 whole sizes only. You will need to order the same as street shoe. If you need a half size order one size larger than street shoe. The size that you normally wear.
